Nuclear power is the best way to generate electric power for most country because it is considerable cheap and “SAFE”. I would like you to relate the safety of Nuclear power plant to the Air transport. Their failure rate is pretty low but when it becomes a headline news when that failure is happened. Then the badness of Nuclear power is further exagerated by the media.

Around the globe,
How many Coal&fossil power plant failed per year? (few hundread)
How many Nuc power plants leaked or exploded per year? (0.0x, isn’t ?)
Then,
How many car accidents per year? (infinitely many)
How many plane crashed per year? (less than few ten?)

Based on the research worked done at GE in 2002, the wind power is the cheapest way of the electricity production so far if there was a strong wind in that area, like in Western Europe. It is 10-20% cheaper than Nuclear. This is the reason why Denmark has the largest installed wind power plants. Unfortunately Thailand does not have strong wind enough to make this technology viable.

The break even point for the PV power (photovoltaic power or solar cell)is 20 years, without government subside. It will be 10-15 years depending on the government largesse. With the expected inflation and interest rate, you can project what the current enery price from PV is. Sometimes the policy makes the bad technology look good. No one is sure about its service life of the PV panels but most PV vendors now offer 20 years warranty.

To make PV technology competitive (again w/o subside), it requires quantum leap or huge manufacturing improvement to cut the PV panel cost by 10 folds.

When I was undergrad, I was told that next 10 years PV would be an affordable technology. Now I am in grad school, I recently hear that it will be competitive within next 5 years. Let’s see.

Why the blog evolve to this point? It is about investment, isn’t it? :-)

ที่ต่างจังหวัดนิยมกันเป็นเพราะในบริเวณที่การไฟฟ้าไม่ได้เดินเสาไฟฟ้าเข้าไป แพงก็ยังดีกว่าไม่มีใช้ แต่ถามว่ามันเวิร์คหรือมั้ย ก็ลองไปถามชาวบ้านดูเองละกัน

โซล่าร์เซลล์นอกจากจะแพงมากแล้ว ยังมีปัญหาเรื่องความไม่แน่นอนอีก เพราะแดดเกิดอยากจะมาก็มา ไม่อยากมาก็ไม่มาซะงั้น แต่การจ่ายไฟฟ้าทุกวันนี้ ต้องการความสม่ำเสมอสูงมาก ไหนจะโรงพยาบาล ไหนจะเซิร์ฟเวอร์ต่างๆ

อเมริกาวิจัยมาก แต่ทุกวันนี้มันทดแทนโรงไฟฟ้าส่วนใหญ่ได้หรือเปล่าล่ะ ยังห่างไกลอีกมากเลย พวกพลังแสง พลังลม พวกนี้ต้นทุนสูงลิ่ว ประเทศที่ร่ำรวยมากๆ ถึงจะใช้ได้ มันเหมาะกับประเทศไทยตรงไหนครับ

ของทุกอย่างถ้าคิดขึ้นมามันก็น่ากลัวทั้งนั้นแหละครับ ผมเชื่อเลยว่า คนที่กลัวโรงไฟฟ้านิวเคลียร์รั่ว ถ้าเขาเกิดเมื่อหนึ่งร้อยปีที่แล้ว เขาจะต่อต้านการใช้พลังงานไฟฟ้าทั้งหมด เพราะกลัวว่า ไฟฟ้าจะดูดคนตาย แต่ถึงวันนี้เราก็รู้แล้วว่า แม้ว่าไฟฟ้าจะทำให้คนตายได้ แต่ไฟฟ้ามันมีประโยชน์มากกว่าโทษ

เพราะประเทศที่เหมาะจะเป็นฐานการผลิตรถยนต์จะต้องมีตลาดในประเทศที่ใหญ่ด้วย เพื่อให้ขายในประเทศอย่างเดียวก็คุ้มทุนแล้ว เวลาส่งออกจะได้แข่งราคากับคนอื่นได้ ดังนั้น ถ้ามีรถไฟฟ้า ตลาดในประเทศก็เล็กลง ถ้าญี่ปุ่นเห็นว่าไม่คุ้มทุนเมื่อไร ก็จะไม่ลงทุนเพิ่ม เราอยากให้เข้ามาลงทุนเพื่อให้เกิดการจ้างงาน เราก็เลยต้องง้อเขา
